make your floor out of glass, make an empty floor below that(1 tile tall), then make another floor below that.
put lava in that empty space.
AND YOU GOT YOSELF A COMPLETELY LIGHTED ROOM

On a water related note, way back when in early indev where you spawned in a 7x7x4 bunker, I generated a new world and half the bunker was underwater, the doorway was completely filled in with water too. Another time it spawned with forgetin' stone blocking the door.
