Hi,

Uninstall all versions of java you have on your computer. Go download the newest current one from the website.

I have windows 7, so to find my path for the Minecraft folder it is:
C:\Users\Takeover\AppData\Roaming\.minecraft

You may have to do some searching for the XP directory...

Then delete your .BIN folder

Go back to Minecraft run, hope it works. I've had this problem many times after random events happen to my computer. Let me know if this fixxed your problem.

This is a great Minecraft Editor. I use it all the time. Extract files into a folder.
