There should be a hunger, poison, radiation, toxic level, atomic level, thirst, damage for every part of the body, weight, height, length, richard size, dehydration, eyesight, hearing, nervousness, comfort and fear bar.

It should fill up your entire screen and obscure your view in a very irritating way.

creeper blows up next to you and you cant hear for a minute.
comfort is meh
fear is not needed
height and weight arent needed except for character creation
toxins dont exist when you cant make anything that utilizes toxic gasses

Today I went outside and dug a hole for my garden. I whacked blocks away one by one, by one, by one, by one, by one.
Then it got dark so I had to climb into my house to organize stuff.

Radiation is when you go do some trololol stuff underground and suddenly one of Satan's eyes tears up.

Atomic Level is when you get addicted to the game so much that your minecrafter's feet are decayed and you are now a material.

The hunger idea isn't stupid at all. It's actually a pretty good idea, seeing as it's a survival game.
Play creative if you don't like it that much.
