This is why you are supposed to only have a two block space between each tunnel, that way you can see every block in the mine.
For all you know, half of those Ns may have been diamonds or gold.

You can craft smooth stone into stone buttons and stone pressure plates, or you could patch up unsightly holes in your mine.

Like, put down lava beside smooth stone and after a long time, a small amount of diamond is created

Well, diamond is very rare, obviously, and I think it would be neat if you could create your own diamonds for tools and such. People would spend hours looking for diamond and never seem to find it. I hardly ever find any

i have two stacks of diamond
because my diamond pickax wont break easily.
They are under lava and in spots you wouldnt want to dig/pick
