The difficulty levels are actually inverted, easy is hardest and hard is easiest.

Easy spawns way more monsters at least.

Those are all great suggestions, but I don't think I have enough space for them.

Hold on I'll get screens of every room so you can get a feel of the size.

You actually get about the same amount of monsters on hard difficulty.
I got this on my first night (on that save) and its been worse.
If you count all of the monsters you get about 15, and there was a creeper on the top left of my house you just can't see him.

found a spider in the morning, killed it, and got a peice of string :D
and i had a peice of string from a spider from before, and now i can make another fishing rod!
