Almost, but not quite. I hate to burst your bubble, but It only prevents as much damage from your red hearts as it usually does, but armor does not prevent all damage. All -32567 means is the armor will never break. You'll never lose it, but it's the same as wearing 'normal' armor.
tl;dr you can still die.

On my testing save I have all of my tools and armor at the highest possible inv-editable durability, and have yet to take any damage to hearts even after extended lava diving or falling from extreme heights.

Yeah what are you talking about? Putting your armor to that number lets you stay underwater forever, stay in lava forever, etc. You have obviously never tried it
