I just customized my custom Painterly Pack. It feels good to go into the file and physically makes stuff how you want it. :D

The major re-work I did was changing the chest to a crate.

I make and tweak texture packs more often then I actually play Minecraft.

Make it tropical. Maybe start off with cubescape then detail it a bit. Your house could be like a cozy cottage or some crap.
