Also, has anyone come up with a decent default currency item yet?

I'm thinking either slime balls or lightstone dust, because they're unobtainable by normal players so the OP's would put money into the ecosystem the same way Mints and the Government do in reality.

The best currency would be either gold/diamond based, or a mod which allowed the play to print on paper.

Made some amazing strides in my singleplayer world.

I have one small house built into the side of a cliff for just beds. Then I have a cobblestone bridge connecting the bedhouse and the furnaces/crafting tables. I'm currently working on making a ladder down to bedrock, where I will have a huge room just for chests. I also found a source of lava and water, which I am transferring over into holes inside my furnace/crafting cave. With those, I will be able to farm obsidian.

I pride my one save file for it's long lasting life, and I am even building a memorial to my "not-dying".

Is there any form of astronomy in Minecraft, other than sunrise/sunset? Because if there is, I'm tempted to build an observatory on the top of my highest cliff.

So they can create their own currency? That would be silly, seeing as a miner would have stuffloads and a farmer would have to sell to thrive. Everyone would become a miner making the role of the economy to be useless.

Well, I guess. A few flaws would have to be pounded out, but I do like the custom paper currency, would take actual time to forge currency.

I'm going to try sniffing around in the textures to see if there's a texture for the stars.

You can edit the sun and moon textures, I have them edited to more realistic representations from Mixcraft HD.  My sun has a sunglare effect on it and my moon is just large and rounded.  If the stars can be edited I'll probably make them smaller and more numerous to give a real space-y feel.
