Because it's much more efficient to carry around feathers, sticks, and a crafting bench, and break gravel to try and find flint, than, y'know, KILL SKELETONS.

This texture pack looks cool.

It looks too smooth.
I like some of the simpler packs, but I like them to be sharper. This one looks like they used a blur tool all over the textures and it hurts to look at.
