Yes. The lighting is so loving annoying. I have to stand at handicapped just to read signs, and half the time I can't tell if a chest is a chest or a broken block.

I think smooth lighting is bad because at the fringes of the light I'm not sure if it's under light level 7 or above.

Plus it's not at all Minecraft-y.

Smooth lighting off is incredibly ugly for me.  I can't stand it.  I always installed MrMessiah's smooth lighting mod.
