potions and enchantment =/= rpg

How does a mostly singleplayer game become an RPG anyways?
And if you don't like it, it's not like you HAVE to enchant stuff or HAVE to make potions.
You can even disable structures in NPC villages and strongholds somehow make it seem more like an RPG.

The only gameplay-altering new thing that is not optional is the hunger bar. Everything else is completely optional.

I like all the stuff in 1.8, I thought that was fun.  But 1.9 seems way too over the top and going in the wrong direction.  Notch has claimed 1.8 and 1.9 to be "Adventure updates" but I honestly have not seen much added to adventuring/survival yet.  Its all a bunch of silly crap like potion brewing and enchanting, that is not what he promised.

This is exactly what he meant. The adventure doesn't come directly, it comes from exploring to get resources to do all the new things. You make your own adventures.

I've only used Pre-Releases 2 and 4, and that was just to see the new stuff in the Nether and to check out The End. I've been using 1.7.3 for the Technic Pack and only today did I update to 1.8.1 to use Tale of Kingdoms. Mods are more fun that vanilla right now, and I'm sure it's going to be like that for quite awhile.

Kobe, using Quake Pro FOV to capture an entire room from the corner only makes it extremely weird looking. Had to say it.

In other news, I just cleaned up a friends place on one of the servers, and added an underwater melon farm addition to it. Too forever, but might be worth it.
