EDIT: I don't like how the mobs look, though. Armor doesn't look to good imo, either.

You could always take the item and mob .png files from another tex pack and use them.

I have that. Im having TROUBLE installing a texturepack is says this work then it doesnt and im getting confused thinking there will be missing textures.

optifine lets you use hd texture packs so yes its the texturepacks fault. or maybe your just installing it wrong.

saving up levels for a really nice enchantment in my regular world

in my main world i have a zombie spawner that drops zombies into some water and brings them to me

Optifine doesn't even do it properly afaik.  I tried to do HD textures and my water/lava/etc. were squished.
