Read it twice.
11/10 would definitely read again, not kidding.

I know I'm being a shameless hack, but if you want to read a short/medium story I'm working, loosely based in the Minecraft world, feel free to read: http://forum.blockland.us/index.php?topic=186683.0

-snip-

Why not ask Blockland members to help you build your town?

I lost my completely useless and ugly item that I can just /give myself?
ME KILL ALL

Exactly what we were thinking. I'm suspecting that, because he's a newbie, he hasn't figured out how to spawn items yet. (Which we're all grateful for)

Read it twice.

Sounds like a great idea. We could use more people. Next time I log onto the server I'll get our coordinates and post the server ip if anyone's interested.

Today we can announce that the four main developers of bukkit – a community-based Minecraft server implementation – have joined ranks with Mojang to bring you the same flexibility and versatility to the official Minecraft server. The four, Warren Loo (@evilseph), Erik Broes (@_grum), Nathan Adams (@dinnerbone) and Nathan Gilbert (@tahgtahv), will work on improving both the server and the client to offer better official support for larger servers and server modifications.

So, I've been playing on this guy's semi-private server. (My friend found it, and apparently the admin flips out if he doesn't know you in real life) Anyway, after my friend became coolbros with the admin, me and my other friend got on and started setting up shop in the community the other players started a full day's travel from the spawn.

Everything was fine for about a few weeks or so. It was pretty obvious that most of the other players who frequented the server were more or less newbies, evidenced by the multiple "fell to their death" and "slain by zombie" messages that would pop up every few minutes. Of course, my friends and I don't have any problems with new players, but it made what happened later a little more surprising.

For the first few days we were on the server, the whole community was hunting for enderpearls to open the End portal. It kind of helped that our village was built right over a stronghold, so we found what we needed rather quickly. After the last enderpearl was in our possession, we made an agreement to enter the End on Saturday and slay the dragon as a group.

Saturday came and both my friends and I forgot about the raid. We came back the following day to find a bunch of happy players and a display case for the Enderdragon egg they took back with them. There was a celebration held in our town that night.

Eventually the weekend ended, and I forgot about the server for a while as I went about my business. Later, though, I was surfing around on the internet when I was contacted by one of my friends. Apparently, Ooogel (the admin), wanted me to come back on the server and host an event in the Auction House I'd built for the town. Excited, I started up Minecraft, joined the server, and headed over to the Auction House.

I was a fair distance from the town, so I read the chat to keep myself occupied. A few players were talking about the upcoming auction, including Ooogel and his second-in-command DaVinci (one of his friends from RL). One player said he wanted to go first, to which Ooogel replied "NO LOG (my ingame name) GOES FIRST." At the time, I was kind of surprised at his blunt mannerism, but also somewhat flattered. I assumed he simply wanted me to be the first one on the stage because I'd built the house.

So I got to the auction house and took the stage. Ooogel was sitting up in the balcony while DaVinci and a few other players stood in the front row and my friends sat in the row behind them. As I was looking through my inventory for something to put up for sale, Ooogel messages "Put your most expensive items up first!"

At that point, I thought that was a weird thing to say, but I brushed it off and presented my first lot: two blocks of iron. I sold it for 20 obsidian. Although I could've gotten more, I wanted the first official auction to be a success, so I let it go. Next I put two diamonds up for purchase, and that's when it happened.

As one of the players stepped forward to receive the diamonds after making the winning bid, DaVinci suddenly leapt on the stage and charged towards me. Not knowing how to react, I hit escape and sought the deconnect button with a heart and a half left. Behind him, I could see my friends both jumping up onto the stage to stop DaVinci.

When I reconnected, DaVinci was dead, and my friends were shouting at Ooogel. Ignoring them, Ooogel jumped from the balcony, accruing a small amount of fall damage, and demanded that I let him kill me. Surprised, I asked why.

He told me that someone had stolen the Enderdragon egg from the display case. Now, he claimed he had to kill everyone to check their inventories. It was then when I realized why he'd wanted me to call the auction. Pretty devious for a newbie.

Since I wasn't about to let him kill me and take what he wanted from my corpse, I crafted a chest and threw my full inventory into it. Because players can only have 40 stacks at a time, it proved I couldn't be carrying the egg. However, Ooogel still wanted to search my chests (Which I never make on SMP servers). I explained this to Ooogel and, surprisingly, he left after that. One of my friends explained that his house was ripped apart by Ooogel and DaVinci in the search for the egg, while a few other members of the community complained about being killed.

So, overnight, my friend and I, with the hired help of two town members, tore down the Auction House with TNT and fire, and my friends and I established another town half a day or so away from Ooogel's dictatorship. We're now currently in the middle of a fairly successful excavation to get materials for our town. We have no idea what's going on back at the original town, but at least we have a good place to build.

It's pretty sad how quickly a SMP building server can degrade into anarchy.

tl;dr Great server until the admin lost his Enderdragon egg.
If you give me the IP to that server I will not only love, you I will help you.

3 endermen, 3 dungeons and 6 diamonds.

I love you too world generation script.

EDIT: More caves lead to ravines
