Can you places slabs sideways?
why would you want to do that?

why would you want to do that?

Uh...why not?

It'd be nice to have a slab on a wall in some cases

Better Than Wolves did it and it looked amazing

How would you implement sideways slabs anyway? The more differences based on how something is placed, the more difficult is is for the player to make something a certain way. If placing on the side of a wall makes it sideways, you have to set up other blocks to make it place the way you want. Annoying.

>spawn on desert island in the middle of an ocean

yeah forget you too minecraft

Pseudo-random generation can't be perfect. He can try to make hospitable locations more common, but then other types wouldn't be as good.

mine down for an abandoned mine, get wood, make boat, sail to hospitable island.

It seems like they're coding it really poorly then. If placing a slab upside down is a different block type, there's something wrong.

No, it's how you place blocks. To place a slab or stairs upsidedown, you have to place it on the bottom of a block. That also means if you want it oriented the old way near the ceiling, you gotta place it by clicking the wall next to it, if there even is one. If you want slabs on the walls, you now need to have a surface to place them in order to orient correctly.

i think slabs are perfect the way they are, we don't need the technic pack block type where there are literally hundreds of loving different block shapes and orientations.

I don't think you understood what I said. Their coding must be inefficient if making slabs placeable on walls would require new block types.

I never said it did. Where does it say that? How one of these blocks is oriented is based on how you place them, they have the same IDs and all.

I assumed this meant different block types.
