Author Topic: Minecraft Megathread; yeah its update 1.12 big whoop what about it  (Read 6803083 times)

The only issue I have with Jeb's changes is that now Minecraft seems to run even worse then it did before.

But other then that he seems to be doing a good job.

do you mean jeb?
or is there someone new now?

Could one of you compile all the reasons why Minecraft for Xbox doesn't generate the same size map as PC? Everyone was giving great reviews on the game, then ChimneySwift put up a whiner video about the map not being huge. I know it was rebuilt from the ground up in C#/C++, for one thing. Let alone it's on Xbox.
I'm not too entirely sure, but likely code limitations with C#/C++ like you slightly mentioned but probably also the fact that the Xbox 360 has 512MB of RAM.

I pointed that out. I showed a screenshot of Minecraft taking up 214mb RAM alone, which could cut into the rest of the system's RAM allocation. He says that doesn't matter because only small bits of the map are loaded. I point out larger map means more seek, etc. He doesn't want to believe that they were limited to not having a massive map. Considering how much they worked on the game, why would they limit the player unless they had to? Obviously there's a reason.

To put it without being rude, Jens = Jeb.

Anyone who can host wanna team up in Hack/Mine?

Jens Bergensten, A.K.A. Jeb. He took over as lead developer, and Minecraft started to become much better when he did.

I'm going to stay on 1.2.5 if 1.3 is the internet linked stuff that the snapshot is.

Important! This week’s snapshot is extra experimental!

This week we’ve started working on separating the server logic from the client. The purpose of this is both to make it easier for us to add features (since we don’t have to implement stuff “twice”), and also to make it possible for you to invite people to play on your local computer without setting up a server. In other words, more like how it works on Minecraft: Pocket Edition.

The work has not been completed yet, though, but a snapshot’s a snapshot. However, the game should still run fine, and we’ve also made some other tweaks:

All the problems are being fixed and will be fixed in 1.3. The fact you brought up such an "argument" is extremely stupid. You should withdraw it before anyone else points out how stupid you are.
