Any way to disable PVP on a LAN server?
Cousins are getting pissed off at each other and thus resulting in them killing.

@randomouscrap98 Ah, that's an oversight on my part. I'm actually working on a command to control pvp at the moment

The top videos and winner of the Minecraft 1.3 Commercial contest were announced: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e7UluJ6-Mdo

The actual winner extremely disappointed me. This was a contest for a commercial explaining as many new features as they could fit into 30 seconds. This video literally explained none of it, and if you are someone who purposefully wants a major update to be a surprise, you'd have no real idea what's going on other than assumption. Many of the features were stuck in the background for split second scenes whereas you wouldn't even notice them. The video provides NOTHING but some graphical prettiness not even made within the game.

She must have been like "Aw, look at the quantity of work they did over the quality of actually explaining like what they were supposed to do. I'll just throw in all the better videos before it in a compilation video so by the time you get to it, you already know all the features and this will just be eye candy." I mean seriously, that should not have been the winner considering the specifications.

That was a pretty stuffty commercial, the winner.  FYI the winner is at the end of the video Mega linked, for anyone else who is wondering.

I'm disappointed that they chose a rendered video instead.  Most game commercials tend to use their own gameplay footage.

does anyone else think the new gravel sucks

it is just hard to get used to

it is just hard to get used to

Its just gross. Its too symmetrical

I've never had any performance problems with Minecraft, but this latest update doesn't even load chunks untill you are jumping in to their void holes.

Then change it to the original texture. It really isn't that hard.

Can't join LAN with the same account, not buying a new account so I can have my brother play with me :/

I noticed that too.

I can't imagine anybody would want to use their horrid built in LAN server.

The server software is far superior in every way, supports world gen options, can generate worlds separate from Minecraft, and has the important option of not authenticating with Minecraft.net which allows anybody to join, and multi-account.

does the demo option allow you to join without limits on a lan server like blockland would?

No, strictly singleplayer.

MEANWHILE, AT MOJANG HQ
"should we make a modding API that helps with the creation and implementation of mods?"

"NOT NOW, WE'RE TRYING TO MERGE SINGLE PLAYER WITH THE AMAZING OPTIMIZATION OF MULTIPLAYER!"

seriously, what the forget are they doing? I get the whole merge was to make modmaking easier, but that still doesn't change the fact that you require clientside and server side to have the mod, nor does it fix ANY of the existing issues with multiplayer or single player. chunks load slower than ever, i can be running a solid 25 fps while running into an area without a loaded chunk and just glitch fall into the void until it loads. They made ssp a stuff pile and what did they give us in return? Writable books and a loving tripwire system.
