Even if you want to be all information blackout about updates, one of the main points of 1.5 was signal strength. How are you only finding this out now? I thought you responded to posts about this before.

that was always an issue with 32x+ texture packs with holding the tools in your hand, or does it happen with 16x and below too?

3D dropped items hooks into how items are 3D in your hand, so I suspect at the very least whatever mods help with HD texture packs could fix that easily. In any case, the texture pack changes for 1.5 would probably have to include a fix for this by default.
