Author Topic: Minecraft Megathread; yeah its update 1.12 big whoop what about it  (Read 6711191 times)

the fact that he thought minecraft forge was one word probably says you shouldn't listen to him at all
Meh, they're mostly little kids, what should I expect from them?
It just pushed to everyone several hours ago. It was in pre-release before that.
So an auto-updater version of 1.4.7, huh?

Jeb added a ton of information on the changes to texturepacks to the wiki so we have some warning for tomorrow when the snapshot including this format comes out in the snapshot.
Why would they switch to that format? I think it just makes things harder.

forge is stuff, why does it add meta inf when I just deleted it

Recreate this. REALLY weird behavior. Can anyone describe it so I can check if it was already reported?

You short circuited a redstone repeater ring, it's lighting itself.

because forge needs it for whatever reason, you probably shouldn't delete it

at least i think

You delete the old one and replace it with a mod-friendly version, I'm guessing.

Delete them both.

And Forge isn't stuff, it's what allows mods to work together. Without it we wouldn't have Tekkit, FTB or any modpack, or any great mods for that matter.

Is there any way to get select features, especially the exclusion of post-beta terrain generation?

I have a 1.7.3 world that I've been trying to merge into 1.4.6, but I just can't. I really want to have breeding, hunger and all that, but don't want to have to leave behind my main world.

You can load the world and walk out to generate some newer chunks that contain current version generation, although it might screw up in world-shape-compatibility.

Delete them both.

modloader allows mods to work together as well. it's just that forge has a lot more features that makes modding easier, so if anything that would be why forge is so awesome.

you could find a bunch of 1.7.3 mods that add all of these before these were implemented

good luck on your quest, sir.

ModLoader mods are compatible with forge, but not vice-versa. Forge also is superior in many ways, like the OreDictionary.

fred, try setting it up how I did. The repeaters are just there to show even odder behavior. The redstone directly attached to the repeaters ALWAYS slowly fades even if it has redstone directly next to it is basically constantly powered by the repeaters feeding into each other. It looks really weird.

Edit: I just tested it. I thought it'd be good for making lights flickering on and off in sequence, but the last 5 lights never turn off because the signal doesn't go down low enough if I keep it powered. If you want that, you have to manually charge the fader unit.

  • Textures for blocks and items now have individual image files (read more below)
  • Improved death messages
  • Improved naming (using the anvil) of containers and mob eggs
  • Trapped chests now give off the redstone signal through walls
  • Improved hoppers and made them controllable by redstone
  • Updated language files
  • Language files can now be updated via the background downloader (no need for a new Minecraft release)
