I'll join. is it Dota or reg gaming?
DotA. Maybe we can have a small regular group with consistent teams. :cookieMonster:

I'd like to do some regular too(let me warn you though, I'm not very good at it), and some other fun maps, but yeah, that's the DoTA list.

Can you sumerize what DotA is, exactly? LilRobot told me it's like a roleplaying thing.

I can't get into the website list to download Dota :( Says it's unavailable

DotA was one of the most successful minigames based on the AoS style of game. AoS was a map in Starcraft and supposedly started this genre. Entire games have been made like it now, such as Demigod and Savage 2.

Basically, there are two teams. Each team has 5 players that play heroes. The objective is to destroy the other sides ancient. In this case it's the Sentinels vs. the Scourge, so the ancients are the World Tree and the Frozen Throne. There are three main paths in the map, commonly referred to as top, mid and bot. Each path has three towers for each side, and monsters known as creeps follow these paths. You need to kill your way through these paths to get to the other sides base.

Along with this your heroes level, making them stronger. You get gold as well, which is used to buy items. Some items can be combined with others to form more powerful items, which is key to a strong character.

The best strategy early on is to play defensive. Don't get too close to the towers, avoid confrontation with enemy heroes, unless you are positive you can kill them, and try to get killing blows when the conditions are in your favor. Once you get to a higher level and get some gear you can start acting more offensively since towers may not effect you as much and enemy heroes may be more manageable.

The reason new players don't do well is because they feed the enemy side. It's easy for a good player to exploit a new players lack of experience, allowing them to quickly level and get good items.

The idea of doing this would be to allow any level of players to start getting better and maybe have some fun. Regular games are so competitive that they ruin the fun for inexperienced players.

I assume you have WC3 and the expansion, so http://www.getdota.com/ would be the link to get it at.

EDIT: The allstar website seems to be up, so here's the link to that: http://www.dota-allstars.com/

So, so far we have:

Skele
Ghoul
Illidan
Rkynick
NickTheSushi

Need at least 1 more for 3v3. 4v4 would be nice though.

DotA is just like Hero Wars with more paths, it sounds like.

I might not try DotA, but if there's a TD game starting, you can count me in.

I can't exactly remember what hero wars are, but I think you're thinking of those open maps where people just kill each other in.

This is more strategic, I think. Definitely fun to play... especially more so than a TD.

Can't stand TD's anymore.

So, when you gonna host?

Well, I can't host. Plus we need more people to decide on times and stuff. Might be hard to coordinate this with such few people. :o

I can host. If i can find my bloody CD.

We could just start trying various characters and groups or something if we really want to make a little regular group out of this.

Hero Wars was where the map was in a sideways U, and where the U ends on each side is the enemy's "portal" where creeps come out of. And in the very center is where the 2 sides meet, each with towers from the two teams. The creeps fight there, and you can either kill enemy creeps or work on the towers to get money to buy items and level.

It just sounded similar to me, but with 2 less pathways.
