Author Topic: I was in a car wreck!  (Read 3820 times)

So yeah, I made a foolish mistake. I woke up at 8 AM Saturday morning, drove from where I live in Fort Worth to Dallas (which is about an hour's drive), worked at the train museum for four or five hours, went to the trolley barn, slept there, picked up the guy I work with at the trolleys, and slept just about the entire time I was on duty. When it came time to drive home at about a quarter past 12 midnight, I though I was gonna make it home. I had food in my stomach, and I was pretty awake at the time.

But then the drive started...

I got about halfway through, and my eyelids started getting heavy. I was listening to the first part of Pink Floyd's "The Wall", and the song "Don't Leave Me Now" came on. If you've ever listened to it, you'll know how hypnotic it can be because in the background, the entire time, there's a guy breathing in and out very slowly. It ended up being too much for me. I fell asleep at the wheel.

Next thing I knew, the airbag went off and basically caused me to punch myself. There was a god awful zipping noise, and several loud "bangs" in quick succession.

Okay, I thought to myself, what the hell is going on? Well, I've just been in a wreck, I'm in a bit of pain, and Roger Waters is screaming at me. I tapped off the stereo, shut down (what was left of) the engine, and got out. I loving totaled the car. All I got was a bruise on my right wrist, and a cut on my left forearm.

I'm never working that long again. Pics to come as soon as I can upload them off my phone...

EDIT: What I hit was one of those barriers that's made of the three steel wires held up by metal posts. The banging noise came from the 18 posts I bent over, and the zipping noise came from the wire.

Thank God I'm alive.

Ouch.

Pink Floyd's awesomeness hits again.

That's crazy. Sleeping and driving are not good buddies.

You okay bra? You must be shook up after that D:

hope you called the police and stuff and get yourself checked out for a concusion.

Spenny must have been worried sick!

Well that beats my truck topper carnage a couple months back. Glad to hear you are still with us.

You're just weak boy! I've driven sixteen hours on three hours of sleep before. Hell, just this Saturday I drove for ten straight hours.

Jeez, you guys are wimps, do you know how far I've driven?!  TO THE EDGE OF THE MAP WORLD.  Slate is just so huge.  :cookieMonster:
Glad you're okay.

To say the least...

Yea, I'm pretty much fine, but I'm losing some sleep over it.

hope you called the police and stuff and get yourself checked out for a concusion.

Well, the cops were called almost immediately because there was a woman broken down on the other side of the highway, and her friends were helping her. I loving lucked out. But the cops did a quick once-over on me, and I didn't show any signs of a concussion.

Spenny must have been worried sick!

Worried enough that when I got home he let me hug him, and Spenny hates being touched...

I expected nothing less from you, Otis! :D

This is surprisingly positive. I thought this was the Blockland forums.

I was actually kind of expecting "That's bullstuff." from the first comment.

So everything is okay? Upload those pictures. I want to see this obliterated car.

Something somewhere is forgeted up, either sending them from my phone or getting them in my inbox. I've only got one photo on my phone, my dad has a lot on his, I'll see if I can get them when he gets home, and they might have taken some photos when they went out to the wrecker yard today to look for my TomTom GPS system.
