Author Topic: DO real game companies use similar tools for their stuff?  (Read 1991 times)

Do they use things similar to Torque's Mission Editor to make the game's maps and stuff or do they do it all in modelling programs and such?

Also, would the part of game making that makes the maps and stuff like that Level Design, if not what is it called?
Because in the credits for video games I see the Level design section and have wondered what that is.

It depends on a game-by-game basis.

Games like WoW use Torque Game Engine PLUS! edition.

It really depends on what engine you are writing for.
They could code their own level editor

Uh...
no?

I think he's being stupid on purpose.

im pretty sure blizzard would use their own software.

Oh when I say real, I the way I think of Torque is it's just for beginners and free lancers and such, so I think of other engines that the big companies like Bethesda or Bungee(spelling ?) or Blizzard as "real" ones.
Just for clarification.

Torque can be used to make professional console games it would seem.  I think any dedicated game making company could work with Torque to make a good game.

Eh, from what I see of Torque it's not really good, it's seems it's realy only good for making sandbox type games, like blockland

Buccaneer.  It's not a sandbox game.  I actually tried to beta test for it but my computer = fail.

A lot of Xbox live arcade games are on Torque, and A lot of companies use 3Ds max for modeling.
