I don't really know how to react. Excited or don't care. Excited because...well...look at the loving screenshots. Don't care probably cause EA will plaster chicks all over it and attempt more advertising for it.

EA Los Angeles announces that Command & Conquer 4 is in development and will ship to retailers in 2010. As the next game in the best-selling RTS series, Command & Conquer 4 will reveal the epic conclusion of the Tiberium Saga.
Interesting stuff in bold.

Discuss what will be the epic conclusion!!!1!1!!1

I heard it was going to be more of an RPG than an RTS.

I heard it was going to be more of an RPG than an RTS.
If they turn CC4 into an RPG it will ruin the name of the series :(

That'd be handicapped. It'd just be like Renegade only 10x even worse as it already was.

Here's a hint: there's another topic ON THIS VERY SUBJECT that is at most one page back.

Now I'm off to go quote some stuff about this so I can ruin your hopes of ever seeing a decent C&C title ever again.

Introducing new class-based gameplay, mobile bases and persistent player progression throughout all game modes
Sounds like an RPG to me.

Quote
persistent experience points

Quote
our RPG-like elements and persistent player profiles

Quote
our massively revised multiplayer backend

Quote
Essentially, whenever you play Command & Conquer 4, be it in single-player, co-op, skirmish, or online, you earn experience that collects in your persistent player profile. Within the profile, you use your experience pool to level up your classes, earning new units, structures, powers, and upgrades. Since your profile is persistent across the game, you can then take your new toys and put them to use in any of our game modes.
So no matter how much of an expert strategist you are, you will almost always be outclassed simply because someone is a higher level than you.

Quote
Rather than construct a series of structures to build and modify your army--as you would have in previous C&C titles--everything you can create, be it unit, structure, power, or upgrade, comes from your Crawler.
Come all ye base builders, and then leave and find something else to play.

Quote
we've sacrificed depth of play in favor of flexibility and ease-of-use
They're making this too easy for me.

Quote
whereas a more experienced player could hop right into the more aggressively oriented offense class and attack the enemy without any hesitation.
Get more xp = mass units = lololol

Quote
highly social experience
"how i level fastur?"

So its an rpg about building as many units as possible. Wonderful.

Renegade was awesome.

Renegade wasn't that bad of a game,just a 1 game revolution :D

I always loved the C&C series with Red Alerts 2&3 and Generals+Zero Hour being my favorites

Finished getting quotes. Look up.

Bisjac has been very sad at pretty much any RTS that has come out in the last 4 years.
they get stufftier and stufftier. they make them more simple, and more loving hero units to gain exp for.

Reading this makes me think:  "Will starcraft 2 turn into this?"

warcraft 3 was exactly that.
im hoping starcraft2 hasn't been gayed up

Whelp, don't like EA? don't buy it, I for one will get this game whether the "EA pigs" forget it up or not.

Thus allowing the "EA pigs" to continue to be "EA pigs"

You make me sick.

You make me sick.

And you piss me off.

Me buying or not buying C&C4 is really going to make a difference to EA right?
