Author Topic: The decline of survival horror games  (Read 4520 times)

Every game I've bought so far that was supposed to be "Scary" isn't.

Dead rising,

Bioshock,

Half-life. (Well, the Itcyosaurs were scary.)

Those games are more thriller then horror.

Nope. Im hell sure you havent played Dead Space.
Also, Tman has some forgeted up senses.
Many time ago he made a thread of "Make me laugh" And the members posted all the funny jokes, images and videos from the internet, he did not loving laughed once.
Once you've played Silent Hill 2, then you won't find that scary :D

old resident evils are loving great.

but 4 and 5 are ass games. just plain old linear shooters now. tons of ammo and shooting zombies. yawn.
completely ruined the series.

the slow, creepy sounds, haven't seen a thing in an hour when the forget am i going to be jumped on scary has a different charm. while puzzle solving, rather then gun collecting.

i will respectively disagree with you, resident evil 4 is not scary but it is fun and still stands as a classic

resident evil 5, i played with a friend on the hardest setting possible it is not scary but it gets the blood flowing when you realize that there are like 15 zombies chasing you and you are out of bullets. Again it is not scary but it's fun

Maybe i just scare easy but to me Dead Space was very scary, i played it in the dark with the surround sound so things were amplified on the fear o meter.

Doom 3 is also very scary, you can use either a flash light OR a gun not both at the same time. That and the fact that things just jump out at you in complete randomness, scared the crap out of me and the fact that i played it in total darkness didn't really help either.

(sorry for the double post)

Agreed. RE5 wasnt mean to be scary.

And the one who says Left 4 Dead is a pusillanimous individual.

Doom 3: Special Edition during a thunderstorm
Funnest. Game. EVER
It's demonic, has zombies, and alien monster things.
And the flashlight makes the game look scarier :D

You can't deny, if it was your first time encountering a witch, you'd be somewhat frightened.

Nope. Im hell sure you havent played Dead Space.

after pointing out your grammer errors, if you read the topic I did actually laugh, I just had to find something myself that made me laugh.

but seriously dude, no need to get your panties in a knot, some people find differen't things scary/funny, deal with it.

the argument is not about what is scary and what isn't
you missed the point completely

fatal frame made me drop the controller as soon as a ghost rushed me i was scared right out of the room and then a ghost game behind me
and silent hill i heard it gave about 5 beta testers heart attacks but that was from a rumor i heard its a very scary game because you never know whats around the corner

Dead rising is sorta scary on infinity mode because 1:All the bosses are at the mall but at diffrent areas and times 2:You run out of food items your screwed 3:Your health keeps going down along with the zombies in the mall.

Fead Rising lol

It gets more scary and intense as you get more into the game.
I watched vash12349 play it and the audio logs creep you out.
