Author Topic: Phobia of underwater monsters. D:  (Read 4594 times)

I hate where the monster has his back turned and you need to get to the other side. But when you get to close, he roars really load, turns around and then eats you.

The games that made me fear water were Ratchet And Clank because of the Black Water City and most Mario games.

The icthyosaurs? That part was so cool!
Where you had to kill it with a crossbow? I loved that! How can it scare you, it's SO FUN.
But that's just me.
And BTW, there are no icthyosaurs in the default GMod maps, so dun worry. :)

Allow me to explain. When I play a videogame, and I end up in a pool of water more than 5 feet deep, I litterally freak out. Especially if the water is foggy. For Example, HL1: All those Itchyosaurs. The moment I found out they existed, I instantly began to fear every body of water in the game. I can't even progress any further in HL:Opposing Force because of all the itchyosaurs. :c I'm even afraid of the pool in GM_Construct.

I don't really think of it as a phobia as much as deep murky water being creepy.

ITT: Creepy Videogame monsters.

I'm not alone!

I hate the water in 2fort, you never know who's going to be in it.

for some reason i'm not afraid of most underwater monsters, only the ones that are significantly bigger then me

IE: the big eel in super mario sunshine, the eel in super mario, the sea creature in spore

but i'm perfectly fine with underwater levels

Ugh, creepy? N64 creepy?

LOZ:OOT Wall Masters they jump down at you from out of nowhere and grab you.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles for the NES, the underwater level next to the dam made me hate underwater levels for life. A freakin timer and the chance of being killed at 90%.

In real life, I will freak out if I'm submerged in a large, murky body of water.

Truth be told, I never got to the part in HL1 with the Ichthyosaurs.

I did, however, play HL2 in it's entirety. The teleporter malfunction scene scared me pale. Lots of people claim Ravenholm to be the scariest part in the game (and one of the scariest parts in ANY game), but being suddenly transported into a vast abyss only and bear witness to the approaching jagged maw of an otherworldly abomination is way scarier in my book.

It is. I hate how you can't tell which ones are dead and which ones aren't.

I hate the areas where ANYTHING can pop out... but, that's about every game :<

Well, the normal zombies didn't scare me. They're desperate cries for euthanasia were greatly disturbing, but at that point I had already dealt with enough standard headcrabs and zombies to hardly even be phased by them.

Then they brought out the poison headcrabs. They had a scarier look, but it was the rattling sound that brought out the terror. Worse than the fear were the problems they brought forth. Knocking you down to one health temporarily made all other threats even scarier, also the zombies would THROW the damn things at you. Even so, they didn't legitimately terrify me.

Then, out of nowhere, they introduced the fast headcrabs. Alone, they were minor annoyances, but attached to zombies they were nightmarish. It was the speed mixed with the damage and the unpredictable swarms they came in. But the screams, oh god, THE SCREAMS. It's like someone running the teeth of a furious, rabid Tasmanian Devil across a chalkboard. A chalkboard IN YOUR MIND.

I get freaked out when it's really dark and my flashlight is dying, and I know/think there are zombies nearby.

When you spawn proning and sleeping zombies enough in Gmod you learn to shoot every ragdollish like zombie on the ground or agianst the wall.

You guys, get back on topic. this is about underwater monsters.
