Installation speed for all steam games is dependent on the ISP. If it is stuff slow, you will take about an hour. If it is where I am, about 10-15 minutes for a full installation.

I never really have problems with location. Besides, valve autouses the closest and best server for you. They also have a ton of them so users are not a problem. Unless it is a TF2 update.

Then omega won't be able to play his soldier class updates :C

But... It takes me 5 hours to DL tf2 :(

For some reason Steam chose my download servers as Seattle. I set it to Washington DC anyway.
