 There can be lone stars out there with just asteroids and dust around it, poor sun :C

 Anyways, electromagnetic waves travel through space, they can be read like sound. For you, if there was a bomb going off in space you wont hear it because there is no oxygen. If you had the special tools NASA uses they can record those vibrations and turn it into sound. You will hear that explosion.
