Hello again everyone,
I am sad that I have been gone the last few days, but power has been out. I will explain later.
On Wednesday, August 19, 2009 in Minneapolis, Minnesota, 3 or more tornadoes hit in the metropolitan area. I happen to live there. I will post a timeline of what happened here, I am leaving out alot of details, I will add them in later posts:
Wednesday:
8:00AM: I woke up, it was raining lightly
8:30AM: The rain picked up
9:30AM: Storming really bad outside, but everything was fine
10:30AM: My mom tells me to close the windows in my bedroom, because it was raining really bad
11:00AM: Same as 9:30
1:00PM: Power goes out. The rain suddenly stopped. My mom tells us to go downstairs [Me, my brother, and my neice]. I look out the window and I see the wind swirling around. My ears were popping, and that was the only noise I could hear.
1:03-ishPM: It started raining hard again, and my Dad and I took pictures of damage. This was within five minutes after the 'nados hit.
"I walked outside, and the road was blocked by trees on both sides"
1:15-ishPM: The rain gets hard again we go back inside. We still had no power, and we were listening to the weather report on a radio. It said that a tornado was coming.. When one just hit that came out of the sky, NO WARNING.
2:00PM: I am outside with my dad and Grandfather chainsawing fallen trees. Its raining and its muddy.
We get 4 trees moved, and the rain is still going.
3:00PM: staring people came and walked by with cameras and video cameras [NONE offered to help], and just kept going.
4:00PM: Several helicopters flew by, news crews.
5:00PM-8:00PM:Working on clearing rubble, and starting the cleanup process.
12:30AM: I fell asleep.
Thursday:
7:00AM-7:00PM: Cleanup, and doing things like:
- Getting gas for a generator
- Getting food
- Cutting up trees
- Staying safe
- Got basic power back [No internets, Cable, and Phone]
Today
Today I woke up and it was just fine. Today we worked just the same, and become more back to normal
Currently I am at my cousin's house on one of his computers telling you this.
So as far as I know, nobody was critically injured.
So, my question is:
Do any of YOU know about this?
I hope to be back home with internet tomorrow,
Ben Grapevine
