An edit/addition to the join server gui - where the option to join your favorite servers is given. Not too sure as to how you'd add favorite servers, but anyway.

This would be pretty neat.

By host name.

Preferably because most people have Dynamic IPs. And it wouldn't be effective to do it that way.

It's something I've got on the to-do list for RTB 3.1, even though it would be slightly redundant seeing as you could just search the server name in the list. The only way I can see it being done is by the username of the person hosting, IP is too unreliable when hosting from homes.

:cookieMonster:

Have it show up in the favourites list if either the host name or the IP are the same. That way, the IP can be updated if the host changes name (then saving the latest name as a favourite) while not moving and if the host keeps the name the same but has a dynamic IP.

Maybe RTB-based servers could also send a BL_ID for a permanent record?

At the moment RTB is only used by about %50~ of servers at peak usage times, as you can see on the usage graph: http://forum.returntoblockland.com/graph.php

I don't think having favourites rely on the server having RTB would be a viable solution until I can increase the coverage of RTB in general. That's also a longterm aim!

Yeah, I just meant as a backup if you change names and IPs at the same time. It wouldn't be absolutely required.

Yeah that would be nice.
Ive found that people who can host don't change their name that often.
(to get their name known as a hoster)
So this should work.
