TF2 external idlers get stuff removed

I didn't get any dups fairly (in-fact I've earned a total of 3 items from ingame play and two of them were BONK's I deleted anyway). I removed all of my duplicates, yet I now have duplicates.
Also, it's not a cheat. You can do the same thing by playing the game, idle server or not. I could go into spectator mode and it would be the same thing.

Aww, that's totally gay. I only used it like once, and got 1 new item. Then I decided that cheating was gay, and stopped.

I got my achievements and unlocks removed from using the unlocker when it first came out (for the scout pack, I already earned everything before that), so I proceeded to earn everything again.
I'm now being punished for idling (which I didn't get anything of value from, nor did I keep any duplicates), by removing items that I had to earn twice.
I'm not the only one, either.

Then playing in spectator is also stealing money? Standing in a spawn doing nothing is stealing money? Leaving TF2 on overnight is stealing money? The idler does nothing different. It's not cheating.

That's not a fair comparison, because using the idler is the equivalent of playing the game. You can idle in the game.

If you can explain how it's cheating a system based entirely on chance, I will concede.

You're cheating because it was a system meant to give unlocks through normal play of the game.  Most normal people don't boot a game to go away from it.  So Valve fixed that you could through spectator mode.  Now you're cheating even more, because you don't even have to boot the game.  Using the idler isn't like playing the game, because simply, you aren't.  You're just leaving a program up, that's all.  No playing involved.
