Sims 3 is a waste of money. They've made it so in inclusion to the add on packs, you have to buy every little piece of furniture and clothing from a store increasing the ripoff from your wallet. They don't even have a bloody hot tub :(
If you're into the Sims a lot, you can still get 2 and a pack or two for that price.

Prepare to be disappointed. The expansion packs don't give you items, Just crappy locations to go to.

Sims 3 is just like every other "3rd" EA game. It sucks, bare exception being cnc3.

My advice is get Sims 2, weather and nightlife.
Those 2 expansions are actually cool and add some neat stuff into Sims 2.

Sims 3 is just same dance different name but now the expansions, as Rug said, contain only locations to go. Not more stuff.
