Whenever I start a second server without restarting blockland.exe, it spits out an error when trying to register prefs since they are still leftover from the last run.

Added to the bug list.

When I try to change my avatar, It changes it to a black person. When I change it from that to the avatar I want, it works, why does it do that?

I doubt this has to do with RTB.

Ok, work's still progressing with the IM system. It's looking really good so far and I've just wrapped up the friend request part so you can add eachother to friends lists and such. That's going to be tested and then I'll move onto the actual messaging part. There's also a bug where the server isn't pulling people's names for blockland IDs correctly so I'll have to look into that at some point.

I'm also hoping to have the new website running for the v4 release as it includes the system to allow you to register your RTB IM account.

Look out Ephialtes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Also if you change your name in Blockland, will your name change on the IM system? I figured it would because you mentioned it in the middle of that update.

Yes, it'll update everyone's friends lists with the username change provided you're logged in when you change your name (otherwise it will just update for everyone next time you login).

I'm also working out how to make this accessible easily from ingame. We did a vote in this thread a while back for a steam-like overlay (accessible/toggleable with a hotkey) so I'm thinking this would be the best idea. Since it isn't contained into one window like the IRC was - are people more keen on one window per chat + a window for the friend list or would they like something like one window with tabs for each person you're talking to + a window for the friend list?

I'd rather have tabs.  Within a game, it seems to be one of the best options.

What if you could like drag the tabs to make a window then drag them back to put them back into a tab, like Google Chrome.

I thought about it but it'd really have to be done with mouse events and those don't work too well layered on top of eachother. I may just end up having an option to stack messages in a single window or use a new window for each person - it depends how many people would actually like individual windows.

I wouldn't be using the individual windows.
Hope my input helps.

Yeah I was planning to build the multi-window solution first which is a pain in the ass, so it's a bit of a relief that everyone wants tabs. I'll go ahead and do that first instead.

I've been using an interface with multiple windows (which I made within Blockland) for a chat I often visit, I don't mind it. Really when I'm using an IM system I tend to lean towards individual windows but tabs are by no means uncomfortable to use.

If I really wanted to I could always just hook my own interface to RTB Connect's output for my own use. It's not nearly as good looking as most RTB controls though.

Tabs it is, then. I've got the friends list removing people correctly and recovering from "weird" friend requests so next I'll be looking at privacy controls (who can friend request/message you + blocking people).

Any idea when RTB V4 will be out?
