I can run a 3-D game on full graphics but cant run a 2-D one?

Well i recently bought Braid a 2-D game and turns out i lag horribly on it but i can run TF2 on full graphics and i dont understand and i have google'd and i found nothing :P whats wrong?

Braid seems like it'd be pretty resource intensive seeing as how since you can rewind time it has to keep track of where you and everything else moved

I don't have an xbox, and I can't give up my huntsman.
It gets a lot better if I turn down the resolution a bit.
