Solid Snake, Naked Snake, and Raiden are the only Main protagonist in the MGS Series.
Solid Snake is pretty much the main character of the whole series though.

Liquid and Solidus are both Main antagonist of some of the games but, Ocelot (Liquid) is in every game.

Naked Snake is Big Boss. Solid Snake and Liquid Snake are Big Boss' sons. Ocelot is Naked Snake's old enemy, and Solid Snake's new enemy.

And Valve is apparently going to make female versions of some of the Special Infect, such as the Boomer, possibly the Smoker and Hunter, dunno about the Tank though, i don't think they're making female versions of the new Special Infected yet, though
