Author Topic: Getting A New Graphics Card  (Read 1784 times)

I got a new monitor for my birthday, and my old graphics card can barely handle my new 1600x1200 resolution.(:D) What card should I be getting?

I'm thinking GForce 9800

I'm getting the GTS 250 for my birfdai :D
It's about 100$.

Yeah, get a 250, it's just a 9800 in disguise.

So it's the same thing, but more expensive?

The 9800 is about the same price, why not get this one?

I have a slimbracket one for my Slimline computer.

I have a Geforce 9800GT. Very awesome, but seriously go for the GTS250. Because a normal 9800GT is one of those large-but-slim ones so it gets hot like a bitch, where the GTS250 takes up double space for cooling.

Even though its bigger it's probably better. Just about everything since the Geforce 8 series can handle 1080p and higher resolutions.

I don't know about you but mine runs very cool

GTX 295 bro.

Nah, you should really go for a HD 4870 1GB, they're cheaper and more kickarse.
okay no they aren't cheaper than the 9800, but it's still kickass.

I suggest seeing what Nvidia releases soon to match ATI's new card. then wait for the price wars.

there is no point waiting for prices to drop on the best stuff, might as well pay full price as new.

all brands make new models like every 6 months, by time the price drops, you have an old piece of hardware. if its about money, buy the 4th best card now because its cheaper.
leave (very) high end gaming to the gamers that have money to waste. because technically, (very) high end computers only stay great for about 6 months, and those gamers must CONSTANTLY be upgrading. its a hobby in itself to have the best computers.

Buy the best card you can with the money you are willing to spend at the time of purchase. Be sure to check to see if the card is compatible with your system; many prebuilt computers lack the necessary juice needed to operate the card, and having the right socket is a must.

why not a ATI radion 9800 HD my pc's kicking ass

no, just no.
Now I am not so much into ATi's numbering, but I remember that 9xxx was some of the worst ones, (amirite?)
I think you're talking about a Nvidia Geforce 9800.
