DWARF FORTRESS, MOTHERforgetERS!
This game is some serious hardcore stuff.
ASCII graphics, learning curve of a brick wall and forget the tutorial is like an essay.
I finally got around to learning to play this and understand most of the basics but am still absolutely clueless goddamn
Super-awesome fort-sim-esque-ey game with loads of stuff in it. Really hard to get started. The
wiki has a good
tutorial on it.
So, who else here plays? I wouldn't mind starting a
boatmurdered style succession game (although probably not as awesome) like Muffinmix and Monty and Laremere etc. used to do.
also cats
List of people willing to play a succesion game:
- Antallion
- Axiain
- Bushido
- Muffinmix
- Dropshock
- Sheezy
Simple rules:
0) Post in the thread indicating you've claimed the succession game once it becomes available. First come first serve!, NO lists this time!!
1) 5 days each, tops, to play the fort for a single dwarf year after they claimed the succession game. Only people who haven't played the succession yet can pick it up.
2) post about what's going on/what happened. Update us maybe once every 2 seasons or a single big update. Pictures are nice.
3) no cheating (game modding, making map features visible when picking a fortress spot, etc. Using site finder to pick a good site is OK)
If you fail to meet any of these, your progress is revoked and we get someone else to pick up the older save. This applies to rule 2 as well. Don't pitch in unless you're willing to write a few blocks of text describing what's happening.
If no one new picks up the succession after a day or so, we'll let folk who've already run a year pick it up again if they want to.
That's it, happy dwarfing!
On a side note, I think there was some issues with getting save files to work between the 40d1# versions and the regular un-optimized 40d version of DF. Honestly 40d16 is fairly solid so I doubt anybody would have problems switching from 40d to 40d16 (other then re-implementing their tilesets and yadayada).
