I managed to dig into the pit as well, but savescummed out. I'm waiting for the new version to start playing again though.

How do I create the world?

I love this game, but every time I play, I always have 2 problems.

First of all, one of these 2 things will almost always happen to kill all my dwarves:

My dwarves will beat the hell out of a caravan in my base, flooding it with miasma and in turn killing all my dwarven friends, or

All of my fishers will fall into a river and get eaten by pihrannas, and their body will flow down the river covering the sides of it with blood.

Futhermore, and on a less interesting note, I don't know how to make dwarves pick up weapons.

I don't think it's possible for your dwarves to "beat the hell out of a caravan" and Miasma won't kill, just pisses them off.

Your fishers are probably being dragged in by Carp, just restrict the river and fish somewhere else.

To get your dwarves to grab weapons use "V" and then "Soldiering and hunting" then choose or for the military press "M" and then press "W" and pick a weapon.(Note, Unarmed to a former miner is using a pick)

More specifically, the miasma made all my dwarves (and that donkey, if I'm not mistaken) go insane.

Also how2 restrict river?

Press D,O,R and then press enter and move to where you would like to restrict.

Goddamn, can't seem to work with may green version.
not all the features are there,nor are they in the right places.

damn, I just cant seem to get into the game again.
any help? I start a game and I end up abandoning it. I really need some help to get back into this.
