Author Topic: Obama signs gays into hate-crime bill  (Read 8591 times)

"Adam and eve not Adam and Steve!"
well if we do everything they do then why do we wear clothes?

I'm Christian, but I am not homophobic... far from it actually xD

yes i think gays deserve the same rights as black people.

however neither one should be getting special treatment as victims when crimes are committed.
But yeah, The thing is when a crime is committed only because the person is gay, then it obviously is a problem.
Targeting based on religion, orientation, race, etc, is all really stupid.
Yes I am agaisnt affirmative action, I shouldn't have to deal with more stuff because of my ancestry than someone who is Black. Really I beleive that was the same thing Blacks once said "how come white people get special treatment"
Also I am against feminism for this same reason. But this doesn't mean I don't think there should be special prosecution against tribals/ family men/ religous(or athiest) extremeists that go out fo their way to hurt others.
I am 100% for equality, but everyone is pushing for some people to be more equal than others.

Long as I can still say the words cigarette and gay without being able to be thrown into prison I don't mind this bill. I say swear words almost instinctively now.

On a slightly different note, I hate people who go "osht you insulted gay people" whenever you say cigarette or gay. Honestly, sometimes that doesn't even make sense. For instance, if I said cake was gay and they said I'm insulting gay people, does that mean gay people are cake?

I don't think this will catch on. I don't say monday to a black guy because he will stab me.
But if I call a gay guy homo, what is he going to do, no mortal danger there.

Is he a huge felon named Bubba?

I get screwed here, no one in my ancestry lived in the US during slavery and none of them ever owned a slave but because I am white I deserve some kind of punishment I guess. The people that fight hard for affirmative action are lazy black people trying to get a free job from the years of torture and suffering their ancestors endured.

nig·ger [nig-er]
—Usage note The term monday is now probably the most offensive word in English. Its degree of offensiveness has increased markedly in recent years, although it has been used in a derogatory manner since at least the Revolutionary War. Definitions 1a, 1b, and 2 represent meanings that are deeply disparaging and are used when the speaker deliberately wishes to cause great offense. Definition 1a, however, is sometimes used among African-Americans in a neutral or familiar way. Definition 3 is not normally considered disparaging—as in “The Irish are the mondays of Europe” from Roddy Doyle's The Commitments—but the other uses are considered contemptuous and hostile.
–noun
1.   Slang: Extremely Disparaging and Offensive.
a.   a black person.
b.   a member of any dark-skinned people.
2.   Slang: Extremely Disparaging and Offensive. a person of any race or origin regarded as contemptible, inferior, ignorant, etc.
3.   a victim of prejudice similar to that suffered by blacks; a person who is economically, politically, or socially disenfranchised.
[Origin: 1640–50; < F nègre < Sp Bro black]

I'm surprised no one said "inb4Doorman." :cookieMonster:
While I agree that all Americans should be protected from violence, I think the bill is bad in that it also targets clergy, who are against homoloveuality for religious reasons, and normally would have a right to speak out against homoloveuality from the pulpit.  This is a huge step in destroying free speech.
First off, I don't think most religion are against homoloveuality. I know for a fact that the Christian Church wants homoloveuals to join them. They are just against the homoloveual act, which is being a bit hypoctricial in my opinion. In other words, they say it is okay to be attracted to the same love, just don't act upon it.

I can understand their reasoning for this, though. The teachings religions put out, especially the Chrisian religion now a days, are good for the human species as a whole. Though it is not stated directly for the human species.

Secondly, the bill does not cover speech. One can make all of the gay, black, asian, white, blond, etc. jokes one wants, but to act violently towards someone just because that person is gay/black/whatever is a hate crime, and that is wrong.

Wat
Being gay has nothing to do with genetics.
[/facepalm]
Okay, I can understand why you would think that, and some people are naturally straight, but they are "exposed" to certain element in society that turn them gay. (No, that does not mean they were exposed to radiation and that changed their genetics.) But most of the time, it is genetics, as it is with me.

Keep in mind that Duckmeister is a conservative, fundamentalist Christian who supports laissez-faire. It's okay to disregard his opinions on this matter.

You mean gay people aren't just a group of conspirators purposely working to destroy humanity by making not procreating look cool and hip?

No, I want to destroy the world, but I think that is just me.
