About TF2... Again

So, this is about the second or third topic I've made about lag in Tf2. What I want to know now is a recommended processor speed I should have. Also how much RAM. Yes, I know it says on the TF2 Steam page, but I want to know if it runs smoothly on your computer and what processor / amount of RAM you have. There is no question on the GPU. I have a Nvidia 9600.

Well, I have a 2.33GHz quad core processor with >3gb ram and it runs at max smoothly, but I'm sure it would work just as well with less.

I have a 2.4 ghz quad core processor
4gb's of ram.
and a radeon 4850.

runs at 1680x1050 on all max settings, at usually 80 fps.
varys depending on map, location, and whether i'm fighting or not.
but usually does stay above 30, which is all you need.

I have a Core 2 Duo 2.66 GHz, 4GB of RAM (Two 1GB sticks at 667 MHz, one 2GB stick at 800 MHz), 19" Widescreen monitor at 1440x900 and a 9800GT.

Runs all maxed out.

Would the amount of RAM I have drastically effect gameplay that much?

Let me put it this way:

On my old comp, with just 2GB of ram, I tried to play Portal and ended up getting like, 6 FPS, through the whole game.

On my newer comp, with 4GB of ram, I get around 40 FPS.


The processor probably makes more of a difference though.

Yeah, I have 1 GB of RAM, but I have a high fps on Portal.

The processor doesn't do much for your fps if you have a video card because the video card takes the load off of the processor when it comes to video stuff.

I get a steady Fps, just that steady Fps is around 14-15.

I knowit does a lot of stuff but It will do barely nothing for your fps of any program if you have a video card, if that wasn't true then there would be no point in having a video card.
