Well if all goes right, then I will hopefully be able to join in around the 15th. I've called my car a lost cause. I got it back only to have it break down on me this morning. So I'll be using my tax returns for a newer car leaving my next check and my financial aid reimbursement check to hopefully solve any need to run this game. I'm stoked. Big thanks to Bisjac for a possible solution to all of this.

lol you can tell who tries to fly with the keys rather then manual mouse piloting.
by how they cant keep up with the circling.

I'll probably be one of the key jockies since I'm so used to it from all the other MMOs, but I'll most likely adapt to mouse soon enough. 3-D realm in space isn't wasd friendly.

well i like to use mouse to fly.
and just use the 1-8 keys to use set abilities.

flying by key is like opposite hands.
you WASD fly, and click the HUD buttons with mouse for abilities. its much faster to do things the other way,

this is the same on foot to. cept that way i havnt decided what i like better.

k i started new character cuz i wanted new look/name

avatar: "Biscuit"
ship: "USS Spoonfish"

beta is disabled right? like, i am in the main launch aren't i? lol
i get steam popup telling me to enter my game key, but it never asks me for it lol
so i dunno if i had to or what

Well usually you have to go to the Cryptic page for STO to enter your key, retail or beta or pre-order. I'm thinking that's why you keep getting the pop up. But beta was closed on the 28th, as well as head start. It's now full retail.

As for control, I'm trying to think what game it was I played that I controlled a lot of the movement with the mouse. It was most likely when I was in WoW and had that nifty button on the side that toggled your character to auto run and I'd move the mouse around to make him turn this way or that way. Probably what I'll do for STO as well. But I'd need a mouse with that third button.

you unluck your first bridge team NPC at start of game. then few quests in 2 others as rewards.
but i dunno how to access the 2 others lol. i apparently got them but i dont know where they are.

Have you tried at a Starbase? Might have to pick them up from there or they might pop up in mission as a plot device.

yah you unlock the application of certain NPCs
still gotta select them from a big list if you even want that one.

What kind of list do they offer?

its just a random list of officers you can pick from.
they all have diff stats and skills.

and some quests give you applications to add to the list

Sounds like a feature they resurrected from the Starfleet Commander series. That's kinda cool.

lol i love the bigger away missions where you can bring 4 others with you.
if you only got 3 NPCs because of your ships size at start, you can always use a no name generic "security" officer to fill in.

and yes hes usually a red shirt lol
and ironically enough, hes pathetically weak and without skills equipped. so he can die easily.

The other two officers should be in your "assignments" tab.

And the redshirt only has a phaser while you can equip your officers with better weapons. D:
