Defend a store or building
Go to an island
Go mobile
Go out into the sea (boat or oilrig)

Author Topic: Where would your 'Alamo' be in a zombie outbreak?  (Read 6385 times)

They still can't climb it.
They can climb, just not very well. If you take a fire ax and destroy your stairs with it, zombies can't climb it. And they don't have the common sense to use the railing(If you have one)

How the forget can zombies walk underwater if the human body floats?

I'd hide in my home for a while and try to get the heck out of the country!
Why..?
Buildings such as wall mart: Ohhhh boy, what a surprise when you enter THAT place, way to many to zombies that's for sure.
BUT food: I'd take all my stuff and leave.
BUT WHAT IF There's to many zombies or to many brutes (if there were): I'd jack my own car and leave with what ever weapons I could.
yeah butWHERE would you go from your state: IL, I'd go to some place along the cost first.
you know how to hotwire cars?
and wal mart would not be full of zombies.
it'd be full of survivors with guns ready to shoot you on sight.

The human body only floats on your back and a zombie won't know how to do that, so in turn they would sink to the bottom of the body of water and walk.

becuase rotting flesh = lead balloon

I'd definitely go around the ocean in a boat. After all, zombies are too stupid to climb and too stupid to drive.

don't you know in L4d and L4d2, you can see zombies climbing over fences

We're not talking about L4D, honestly L4D is exactly what hollywood does, it soups things up beyone belief to make it sound better. Besides your refrencing to a VIDEO GAME to correct someone, we're talking about what zombies would be like from what realistic books say. It's like saying my home will be safe from robbers because i bought this new Robber stomper 3000 because the commercial said so and no one ever lies on TV.

Bones sink, don't they?

Anyways, the oil rig is the best bet. Large, and can be there like forever... Just bring a few people, and boxes of ammo and other stuff. Make a large purifier, and use the water it purifies. Solar panels can generate electricity; fish cooked in electric stove.

Occasionally, build a raft and send someone to check on the mainland, or find a wild island. Maybe one of those uninhabited Hawaiian ones?

If you really are going to board an oil rig, make sure you bring lots of people as fodder if the zombies find you. Keep an inflatable raft hidden in your cabin, with a month's worth of food and a mini purifier. Also, bring a solar heater/stove and a fishing rod. Every tiem you catch a fish, leave some left over for bait.

If the zombies board your ship, kill anyone they touch.

For people with ICBM's

Use nukes for obliteration, get a plane and fly out for an hour or two, then come back down with a radiation suit.

Lol, good luck with your eight round magazines.

I'll take a Pfeifer Zeliska .600 Nitro Express revolver with me too, in case I run into Zombie Elephants or something.

quit trolling, there would be no way you would get those weapons.

There would be a chance to find a Pfeifer Zeliska, however small. Same for some .600 Nitro Express.

An M1911 would be much easier to find or purchase, and .45 ACP would be the same.

wait, are you saying where would we go to to live? cause everyone died at he alamo...

I'd go to the candy store =3

Anyways, the oil rig is the best bet.
Max Brooks says otherwise.
An oil rig may serve as a fortress, but sooner or later it will become uninhabitable. For example: As you have said, solar panels could generate power, but who would fix them when they broke? The crew will most likely have left, and I really doubt anyone in the average party would be able to fix one.

Anyway, I'd go downtown to the local elementary school. Security cameras, food, limited entrances, walls nearly a foot thick, made completely of concrete. Everything in the building could be used to form a barricade, and the tools down in the janitor's office: blowtorches, power drills, hammers, crowbars, and quite possibly a nail gun or two, would probably keep me alive for a decent amount of time.

And if things don't work out, and the building is lost, It'd be all to easy to evacuate to the roof, and await rescue.

Don't you people ever read the blogs?

The "Zombies" on L4D/2 aren't your Zombieland zombies, these zombies are some sort of damn rabies infected people that still have lots of intelligence left.

regular zombies would just try to break the fence down.

And let's not forget some freak accident that could cause it to explode.

In a boat in the middle of the ocean, my a friend. Zombies can't swim very well. And I can use my friend as food.
You're a dumbass if you do this. You could:
-Run out of food
-Run out of gas and be stranded forever
-Get caught in the storm and be shoved overboard
-Get attacked by pirates (No, not for them to "steal yer booty" but you'll get killed for whatever you have.)

Anyway, I'd most likely hide in my attic/on my roof until things quieted down, find other survivors, and make some sort of community if at all possible.

If not, I hope my flight simulators have payed off.
