Author Topic: Build me a compooter.  (Read 5513 times)

Are they like faster or something?

No, by buying parts at stores or disassembling computers to create a custom one.
Basically buying nice parts to get more power for less price than a pre-built, factory computer.

Now, Liam, thank you in advance first of all, but is this going to be pretty top of the line stuff?

Why does it seem that everyone just happens to have $1000 to spend.
It's an even number and a decent estimate when you're talking building gaming computers.

It'll surely be more than you first expected :cookieMonster:

I just got back from lunch and by research most of the namebrand companies don't make computers that run like this.

Yeah, this is my first. I'm probably going to bring the parts into the computer guy at my school and see if he can give me any help.

AMD is fine, as long as I'm not nixing quality for price.
AMD is probably better for budget until your budget starts getting up there, i7 is the king of CPUs atm.

Here is a comp about 700 bucks which leaves you room to upgrade the cpu or GPU if you want or to pocket the extra for games.

Case - Antec 900

Mobo- This one is good with some upgrade room

GPU - 4870, a pretty solid beast, faster than a 9800

PSU - 550 watt, upgrade that if you upgrade the mobo for dual cards

CPU - phenom triple core, games usually can only use 2 cores anyway and this overclocks easy.

RAM - Decently fast ram and 4 gigs of it

HD - big cheap HD

How's the compatibility on those? Thanks, btw.

Will a 300gb harddrive work? I was looking into adding a Solid State for your boot disk but that wouldn't fit in your budget.

300 would work. I've got to say though, Visage's set-up is looking appealing. Tell me what yours has on his when you're done.

Edit: Another question. These processors aren't integrated into the mobo, are they?

stuff! The thing timed out on me. I was all done too. It'll be up in like 5 minutes

That's why I put the product links in Notepad.

Hunh? CPUs just get put on the mobo, they are really tiny and usually you just put it in and push a lever to lock it in. Everything in my build I know is compatible except the mobo I haven't fully researched but I can tell you in a bit.

EDIT: Yea the mobo is perfect for everything, this should be everything you need.

How's this for cooling.

Usually CPU's on prebuilts are integrated into the mobo.

THat is horrible cooling and yes you will need a good cooling for a phenom, so let me get you one.

I prefer the copper ones that stick outwards in a circular shape but a lot of times they simpley don't fit right so this one is best I can recommend, I don't want you to buy one that doesn't fit.

JOKES.

If the components are good enough, I doubt I'd need to spend bookoo bucks on a bitching cooling system for overclocking, right?

If you want to overclock that build is very similar to mine. I could recommend an incredible cooler for around $50
