Sounds awesome, but also something that I'd not be able to play too long cause it's too freaky. :(
It's also got decent lighting/graphics and some fun physics puzzles.

This game's largest export: stuff

Destination: My pants.

Played it, couldn't complete it.

Though, my friend and I decided to have a Penumbra marathon and he managed to get through each of the games, except Requiem (don't even bother, it's just level-after-level of puzzle solving with no real plot). I have to say though, Overture was probably my favourite. Black Plague was freaky and mindforgetish, but still pretty loving scary.

Though the games are terrifying at parts, there will be moments where you'll want to scream at your computer because you can't figure out what the forget to do. And then when you do figure it out, you sometimes won't know how to do it. Every now and then you'll have to stop and think about what to do next, and actually read through your journals to get what is going on. You'll have to do a lot of back-tracking in it.

It's really fun to play at night, whether you're alone or not.
Penumbra <3

Just finished Overture, what a marvelous game. Even though most of the terror derived throughout the bulk of the game was ruined by the use of a guide, I vowed not to use a guide after brainforget of the chemical mixing part. I must say, after you blow up the rock barrier it's sheer pant-stuffting terror and an overwhelming desire to play the next game. What a wonderfully terrifying game.

Oh BTW: My game crashed right before the section where you pick up the last note and walk down the stairs. I had to watch that entire portion on youtube and it was still pant-stufftingly pant-stuffworthy.

I own all three of them, and I've only tried to play 2 tho and only one of them I decided to continue longer than the begining (the first room or a cave or what ever).  And I had some odd problems with my graphic card not displaying some parts of the terrain.

The one flaw and serious awesomeness about this game if you're into that is that some sanity-crushing hard puzzles. I literally think I would've spent hours trying to solve a few of the puzzles until eventually loosing interest in the game/giving up.

why the spiders is in there cave?

To give you an idea of how pant-stufftingly terrifying this game is.

That's Red, the only voice you hear besides your own and disembodied whispers throughout the entire game first game, although you don't actually see this picture of him until the second game, you find out some pretty interesting stuff about him in the first that would leave you to believe that that's what he looked like

Anyway, I think one of the most terrifying things about this game is how much it leaves up to the imagination. Your mind really fills in 95% of the pant-stuffting horror, aided only by the setting and the music that's almost always playing. There's only a few sequences in the first game at least that really merit terror; the rest is your mind and the music and the setting.

Another terribly scaring as hell aspect of Penumbra: Black Plague.

Tuurngait.
Sirrus, get ready for some SERIOUS stuff.

Ahhh, forget.

I know that this is a lol-pic of alien dong, but it's the only good picture I could find of the tuurngait.

But seriously, did they have a focus meeting and sat down and said "alright guys, we already made a scary ass game with good lighting and sound effects, now let's make some side-loving-ways scary stuff and THROW IT IN THERE.

This makes me mad; I play through the first game and and I get to the last room and BAM! It errors out.

I went to the site and it said a problem could be a file size so I go check and it's awwwwright...
