This would be interesting. Using the same type of things the Old School Rifle uses and by limiting zoom, you could create a similar effect.
This isn't not unpossible.
F button-users (Me) would still use the F button.

This isn't not unpossible.

What? Also, SpaceGuy made an addon that completely gets rid of zoom except for the OSR. If you applied that to all other weapons like it, but you only let them zoom to a certain distance, you wouldn't be able to use f completely.

This is possible for every existing weapon. All the OSR does is change your camera to make it look like you are zooming. All the weapons would need to be re scripted for accuracy and aiming, but it is still possible without needing to re model.

As heed said, change the first person eye offset, and you've got an ironsight.

But accuracy would be a whole different story.

Just use F.

What would be the point of ironsights in a game where everyone is bunnyhopping around with a rocket launcher?

IRONSIGHTS IN TRIBES OR QUAKE OR SOMETHING.

OH SNAP.

Broken.

I'm pretty sure there is a mountpoint for the camera on the model. But then again, you seem to know more about it than I do. Anywho, this is a great idea.
I know exactly how to do this.

The variables to disable zoom were removed in v13.

Drat. Maybe Badspot could add it as a server pref?

well BL is a 1st-3rd preson game, and about all 1st person war games have ironsighting.

hitting f would zoom a lot and you can change that with scrolling. wouldnt that work?

"F" just let's you zoom in on far-away objects
