Grand Theft Auto IV Help?

Recently, my friend gifted me GTA IV. I set everything up and got a Rockstar games account, and began playing. So it showed the copyright messages and such. But then it stopped flat out and crashed. Then this prompt appeared:
"GTA IV FATAL ERROR: Unable to create depth render target - Please re-install DirectX and/or install the latest video card driver."
Can you help? Obviously I have to reinstall DirectX, which I am about to do. Should I trust this site?:
