Author Topic: Amp for my guitar?  (Read 2302 times)

Ok, I never actually used an amp before so I may have no idea what im talkn bout.

I got bored and wanted to play Ironman (Never played a song on it before) Looked up a youtube vid, did exactly what I was supposed to do, Souunds nothiing like it (All notes are tuned)

So Im guessing its cause I don't have an amp

If Im right
Suggest me some decents amps

If I'm wrong
I guess I doing it wrong :c

Its because your guitar isnt tuned probably

Why do you have a guitar if you don't know anything about it?

Why do you have a guitar if you don't know anything about it?
so he can learn about it

Failure. :cookieMonster:

Marshall is probably the best amp company but also one of the most expensive. Fender makes decent cheap amps. I use a thing called the Micro Cube. It's small and it sounds great and it's loud for it's size. It also has some effects on it.

You could be playing a dropped D tab in standard tuning...  or vice versa.

Mine's a scaled down version of the original Fender amp.
It has great sound, and is very portable and light.
I might be able to find it on the internet somewhere...

This is probably what's going on.

Most of the tabs I look up are terribly done, and just make the song far more difficult than it really is to play.

Obviously your opinion is biased, Marshalls suck if they don't cost over 600 dollars.
Same with fender, the only good amps they have cost more then 500 dollars.
Personally, I use a roland cube 30x, its quite good, quite verstaile, and CHEAP.

If you want to buy a first amp, get a cube series, the microcube he suggested is quite good, try it.

Also guys, its a lot smarter to get a guitar pro tab pack rather then looking them up, it can save quite some time.

If you don't have an amp for an electric, first of all, wut. Second of all, NO songs are going to sound right, unless there's a song where they mic up an electric guitar :|

If you don't have an electric, Iron Man isn't acoustic.

If you do have an amp but it doesn't sound right, Iron Man is probably played with a forgetton of distortion. Get distortion petals.

Shouldn't you at least research a bit about something before you buy it?  It's a lot better to, well, learn what an amp is before you make a purchase, like, I don't know, a guitar.  That's like saying you shouldn't inspect the house you might buy, because you'll learn about it once you've bought it.  Not a very good investment, that house with multiple cracks in the foundation.  Only, in your case, the problem isn't in the guitars deficiency (although, most people who know nothing about guitars will end up buying a crappy guitar), but in your ignorance.

Even then, Iron Man is played in B (using standard tuning), and he basically moves around in the standard 5th interval "rock" chord progression (all played in power chords), in this case being B, D, D, E, E, but then at the end he adds a downward trill on G.

Like this:

B  D   D    E  E        G     F# G       F#  D   D  E    E
Is he live or dead, has he thoughts within his head

Remember, it's all in power chords.

Also, get a VOX Valvetronix amp.  They're fairly inexpensive, at least for the smaller models that you would need, they have a ton of effects built in, with multiple distortion types.  A perfect beginner amp, and then maybe a year or two down the road you can start buying actual effects pedals.
