Really fun RTS game that places you as a ruler of a small island nation, you choose how you rule your people, be it Authoritarian or Democratic. Despite it's lack of real combat which is a big let down, even though I only have the Demo for PC (and the demo for Xbox but on the Xbox version the text is incredibly small). A very challenging game none the less.
The game is set during the cold war not sure of the exact date but the demo lasts from 1950-70, you can choose to Support either the US or the USSR, or be completely independent it's up to you.
Customization is pretty good you can choose your leader from various real-life leaders including Fidel Castro and Che Guevara, or make your own dictator, with sim-like customization just for him.
Lot's of things to do that will keep you busy as you progress your country is comprised of Capitalists, Communists, Religious, Environmentalists, and more that will constantly debate and constantly come up to you and ask support for their side.
The building system is well thought out, including military bases, prisons, secret police buildings, farms, schools, docks, tourist attractions etc.
Additionally brute force can be applied to your people because they WILL protest and it's hard to make everybody happy, or submissive. I usually have the Environmentalists, communists, and religious parties protesting because I'm not taking care of the environment, and the communists want better health care and more houses, and the Religious party is always up my ass about building a church. You can be the good guy and compromise everything and work your ass off to make everyone happy, but those are the main parties that will always protest and demand more, so instead I just send my military out and order a shoot to kill order, I could just arrest them and deport them but that's not fun.
This game reminds me a lot of Hearts of Iron 2 but HoI2 has lot's more customization in terms of Military, technology, and government just to name a few. But with lack of real-time combat.
Discuss.
