Really fun RTS game that places you as a ruler of a small island nation, you choose how you rule your people, be it Authoritarian or Democratic. Despite it's lack of real combat which is a big let down, even though I only have the Demo for PC (and the demo for Xbox but on the Xbox version the text is incredibly small). A very challenging game none the less.

The game is set during the cold war not sure of the exact date but the demo lasts from 1950-70, you can choose to Support either the US or the USSR, or be completely independent it's up to you.
Customization is pretty good you can choose your leader from various real-life leaders including Fidel Castro and Che Guevara, or make your own dictator, with sim-like customization just for him.
Lot's of things to do that will keep you busy as you progress your country is comprised of Capitalists, Communists, Religious, Environmentalists, and more that will constantly debate and constantly come up to you and ask support for their side.
The building system is well thought out, including military bases, prisons, secret police buildings, farms, schools, docks, tourist attractions etc.
Additionally brute force can be applied to your people because they WILL protest and it's hard to make everybody happy, or submissive. I usually have the Environmentalists, communists, and religious parties protesting because I'm not taking care of the environment, and the communists want better health care and more houses, and the Religious party is always up my ass about building a church. You can be the good guy and compromise everything and work your ass off to make everyone happy, but those are the main parties that will always protest and demand more, so instead I just send my military out and order a shoot to kill order, I could just arrest them and deport them but that's not fun.

This game reminds me a lot of Hearts of Iron 2 but HoI2 has lot's more customization in terms of Military, technology, and government just to name a few. But with lack of real-time combat.

Discuss.

Ahhh Tropic 3.
Pretty good game well you might be blowned to smitherns by your election Opposite and so on.
Too great to play...

I just got done with the first mission, my last year in office I stationed some soldiers near the docks and I ordered them to mow down all immigrants because I ordered conscription to all unemployed people but my army was only like 5 strong. Unless I'm doing something wrong.

BAD CHOICE.
Big time.
I start off ,set the game till 2000, Do things then get a whole heap of crap and balance my economy,
Rebels come in and be an set of idiots, Being gunned down by EL PRESIDENTE!(Lol waht? This happens)
Serect police set off bombs and crap, MILTARY TIME and set the Rebels Pissing their pants back to the Leader.

I enjoyed the game for a bit, but I really hate how you can't become very large. I also hate how population sizes are incredibly small compared to building size and number.

Apparently my 'comrades' of the USSR want to give me a big furry hug.
Also how do I recruit soldiers?

I dislike the fact that basically no combat whatsoever, except for suppressing a coup d'etat, there's like no airforce, tanks, or anything like base defenses for that matter. And I lost the game because the US invaded me, like that was it. They invaded me and the game ended, I would have enjoyed trying to defend myself. I would have also liked to build some missiles.

its simulating a 3rd word country.
It not about military

Just bought the full game today and I'm disapointed. Tourism isn't a good factor like powerplants I don't know how to use them I placed one near all my buildings that require power but they don't recognize it. Not that much difference betwen the demo but more missions and sandbox mode.

Bought it on Steam today. I played the demo, was fun.

I can select the buildings but I can't see them
But who can pass up $13.00 for a game?

You have to Right-click to bring up the building menu, then Left-click to select and then left-click to place.

I finished out a game on the year 2000, sandbox is pretty cool guy.

is it your graphics card that's older? It might be a graphics problem.

I've never had a problem with the game I get great fps on max settings and I'm on a laptop.

Played it for like 3 hours... then stopped.

It's very frustrating and you'll not be able to do a whole lot without cheats.

Once you cheat you realize how theres nothing more to the game to even play with.
