Author Topic: AMD Data change boot  (Read 1151 times)

This happens whenever i turned my computer on, then it would carry on fine. This time, it ran and it started some kind of re boot thing with a loading bar made up of a spinning percent sign thing. This happened once before when my hard drive crashed, but I downloaded a virus then. I haven't downloaded or used anything for the past 2 weeks. Anyone know what to do? I have a disk containing windows vista, 3 recovery backup disks and this second, old, computer I am typing from.

Nvidia Boot Agent 249.0542

Alright, I put in the boot disk 1 and the windows loading screen came up. The one with the green bar and the black background. It took a while but it loaded. Then it just went to an all black screen.

Oh geese this happened with my sis and I had to do it for her...oh god...Hold on i'll look at my ComputerActive! mag, Luckily its about fixing drivers...

Doesnt say...Also, When it starts up press del and it should come up with options, Or just try going on safe mode

Sorry, can't go into safe mode if my computer probably doesn't even have safe mode on it any more.

You could search/post on a computer help forum.

As for help, you might want to see if you can find some way to save the really important files and just wipe the drive and start anew.

Norton has everything backed up online. I tried re booting but it just gave me a blank screen when the files finished loading

It turns out nortons crap service only backs up pictures. All of ny 500 plus models so far are lost. My mods are lost. my builds are lost. My adobe expensive products are lost. All my steam games will need re instaling. But at least i have pictures of all the stuff i lost.

Not everyone here is a computer expert.  This is the off topic forum for a goddamn online lego building game.  Maybe they saw the thread, knew they couldn't contribute, and left.  You could be more of an ass, you know.

Because it's everyone's top priority to help you with every problem you have.

This isn't drama you know, don't get angsty.

This. I mean, would you want half the 12-year-olds telling you half-baked computer theories?

Couple of ideas.
Perhaps see if the BIOS battery is out or loose. It may be a possibility.

Have you tried using the Windows CD since that?
If all else fails, if both your computers use IDE or SATA, then you could get the HD from the dysfunctional computer, set it to slave and put it in the working one as a HD accessible through the main Windows install, and then take all your important junk out of it.

Notes:
-IDE is the big, flat, ribbed, gray cabling, its not hard to spot.
-SATA is usually a flat cable running from the HD, and smaller than IDE. It comes in a few bright colors.
(You should only have IDE or SATA from your HD, not both. Don't look for both!).
-If you can't access your Boot Menu, which is a pity, then you can't adjust the boot order, which could be what is not allowing you to access that disk.
-The BIOS battery is, logically, a rather small battery on your Motherboard, that is, the largest chipboard onto which all the other ones slot into. It looks just like a watch battery, and the computer uses it to start up initially and keep a few important things going.

I know nothing is seriously broken because i got the safe mode window and the load window to work. Is there any way to get my stuff off the hard drive? Maybe bring it to a shop or something?

Basically, take out your HD, flip the switch in the back, and, as long as the cables are the same, throw it in your other computer, copy the data, and then try and format the HD.
