tl;dr.
It's an RPG that's accurate to what the middle ages been. You do anything you want in the game.

Also, for anyone looking for some good mods, there's a section on their forums just for it.

And those are all of the complete and released mods. I recommend, if you can find it, the American Revolution mod.

I got if off taleworlds

So, guys, what weapons do you prefer? Staves? Bows? Crossbows? Swords? One handed or two handed?

God I suck at this game. I keep getting slaved all the time >:(

*Snicker*

Get a band of merry men, and some better gear. Start with looters, not deserters or sea pirates.

Oh, and try your best to join a faction if you want the security it brings.

If you need money, enter a tournament or an arena.

Kerog, can you tell me what gear, and what weapons your character is using? And a few other statistics?

When you first start off the game, ALWAYS go to arena. I defeat around 12 men each time and I earn 25 money. Keep doing this until you have around 150. Start recruting. And get attacked a few times. Recruit more. And you're pretty much set then. That's what I did.

Good strategy, the arena builds up skill without the dangers of combating real bandits.

The arena can be so boring though D:

What I did to start off was go to the nearest major city, and sell the tools in my inventory. From there, I'd buy a better weapon, and be a delivery boy for the local lords, until I had about 800-1000 denar.

From there, I'd recruit some volunteers, and just do some more errands for the lords, till I had about 1500 denars. Then, I'd run around, look for looters/thieves/pirates, and just kill them for some xp and money.

Whenever I was captured or something, and lost a lot of money, I'd go to the arena for a few spare coins. I'd check the local tournaments, and make my way over to them, and just bet all the money I could on myself (knowing it's pretty much impossible to lose).

It's easy to get a hang of once you've been playing for 8 hours straight, lol. Right now, my character's level 12, has an army of 40 men, and about 20k denars.

-EDIT-
Another tip: choose who you want to side with early. After picking, usually 2 factions will hate you because they're at war with who you chose. For example, I chose Vaegirs. Now the Nord and the light blue (idk what theyre called lol) faction hate me now. So, I just go to those areas, raid some villages there, and leave right after. It usually racks in over 1000 denars.

Another tip: choose who you want to side with early. Check the relations of who you choose, and then go to that factions land and raid their villages for some goods you can sell for between 500 and 1000 denars.

Bad idea!

If you someday capture a castle near that village, you will own it, however, if you raided it you will have bad relations. Thusly, you own village would hate you.

I suggest raiding the villagers who go out of their place, to, per say, a major city. They have good loot.

i'm just a mean ruler, lol

plus, the villagers are common, but not common enough. don't go ALL over to each village and raid it. just stick to one or two, raid them, sell stuff, and go on with other stuff, and wait for them to re-supply.

also, i made a mistake in my edit that i should really fix

Also, I find heroes pretty useless, I prefer only having a crew.
