This topic gives me a warm and fuzzy feeling inside, haha.
You're not the only one.

I think he's just trying to follow in Dad's footsteps... I got lucky enough to be part of a studio that designed an old PS1 boxing game (HBO Boxing), and it was one of the best couple years I've had. I do the writing-- dialogue, character creation, story, and come up with game mechanics. No programming knowledge though (

Anyway, I know he misses BL while he's at his Mom's. If you visit his server, though, be careful. He's fond of trapping people, and calling them his pets ;p

Oh, and he doesn't ask for Trust anymore... he's figured that part out.

I'm glad it worked out! I love this thread for some reason. If he has questions, just lay em' on us. Also you mentioned he always wanted to be a game designer like you, a great way to start out would be to make add-ons. Not for a couple months though. In 3-4 months if he still plays, he'll
be practically a pro. He'll know his way around, possible have some friends. Then, he'll be ready. There's topics for add-on making, so yea. Good luck! I'll be sure to drop by his server.

He's not being left out, he's done pretty well hosting games in and around his hotel. Doesn't venture out anymore, much, since he's "running his hotel", but he's always on the alert for joiners. He's only here Sun- Wed, usually, though.

Hasn't tried any addons yet, but he's fond of zombies so that'll probably be happening soon.
He could also run a dedicated server, which doesn't need him to be in it to run. I'm not really sure how to do it, but you could ask someone else on this thread.

Ok, thanks again. He's nearly 8... just getting frustrated, I think.
I highly suggest you port forward here.

People are merciless. Language gets bad.

If you can help him host his own server I'll drop by and see what he's doing.

Edit: I see he can already do that.
Your kid is lucky, I use an airport router and it drives me insane trying to use the utility to configure it. Does not work, makes me unhappy >_>.

Try throwing it out the window.

Hello, could you please tell me what router you are using? I could help you port forward then, by telling you the steps.

Blockland may not suit your kid. Look here to see what's going on inside quite a few servers:
Drama forum

It gets ugly around here...

I'm pretty good at avoiding drama. Most of it happens here when I break him away for dinner, homework, etc...

Don't let your son use the forum account you have setup.
Most of us are reasonable on here.
However, the Drama section of the forum tends to draw in those jerks like my self.

Anyways, I didn't read through the entire topic.
But, I suggest that you have your son play on Badspot's server.

I should host a 24/7 Newbie server.
That would be interesting.
No admins, only certain add-ons.

Ah, that would be cool.

He has NO lag with Blockland, runs like a charm, and I'm thrilled to not have to reboot his PC every 20 mins.
Roblox is made with a poorly optimized engine.
It runs horribly even on my beast of a computer.

Badspot wrote somewhere about how roblox's engine sucked ass. He has a super computer and with no bricks badspot has 900 FPS in blockland. About 200 in roblox. When badspot hits 60k in blockland, about 800. When he does in roblox, hes down to 60 FPS.

This could be off.

I recomend not giving trust or asking for admin or getting into an argument
for the first couple weeks it will allow him to learn peoples excpectations in blockland and the instructions
HERES SOME STUFF TO KNOW
-if you want trust don't give it randomly ask first and if they ban you for asking, thats not a server you want to go to
-asking for admin can easily get you banned only ask if it's a friend in real life or if you have full trust with them and your friends (over the internet at least)
-don't shoot people when a minigame isn't happening because you can't kill anyone
-don't spray paint or hammer people if you want there attention
-Hit F1 to read the instructions
-If you need additional help post it in the help category on the forums
(eventing is for advanced players)
lol this is the longest post I've ever posted

How many times have you been there? Like ***** tanks?

I'm pretty sure he isn't having a problem with that.
